Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of EngoNow Listen & Speak (the “Service”), operated by EngoNow. The Service is moving to a new address and is reachable at both during the move: engolab.com, which is becoming our primary address, and dictation.engonow.com, which will keep working and redirect there. Both addresses are the same Service and are covered by these terms. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
An online tool for practising English and Chinese listening, dictation, vocabulary and pronunciation. It provides listening exercises built around video material, dictation and fill-in-the-blank practice with automatic scoring, pronunciation practice using your microphone, vocabulary saving and review, progress tracking with streaks and leaderboards, an AI study assistant, and class features for teachers.
The Service is provided free of charge. We do not currently take payments.
2. Your account
You must provide accurate information. Your account is personal to you — do not share your password or let anyone else use it.
If you are under 16, please use the Service with the knowledge and agreement of a parent or guardian.
If your teacher or centre created your account, they may also be able to see your work and manage your class membership.
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us immediately at maximumz160@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service unlawfully, or to harass, bully or abuse anyone
- Post offensive, threatening, discriminatory or sexually explicit comments
- Try to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our servers
- Probe or test the security of the Service without our written permission
- Use automated tools, scripts or bots to interact with the Service
- Manipulate scores, streaks, XP or leaderboard position by any means other than genuine practice
- Copy, redistribute or resell exercise content
- Overload the Service or interfere with other users’ access
On fair play: the Service includes automatic checks that detect manipulated results. If scores, streaks or leaderboard positions are obtained dishonestly, we may reset them without notice.
4. Content
4.1 Exercise content
Exercises are built around third-party material, including videos hosted on YouTube. That material belongs to its respective owners and is used for educational purposes. You may not download, redistribute or reuse it outside the Service.
4.2 Your content
You keep ownership of what you create — your answers, comments, saved vocabulary and profile photo. By posting a comment you give us permission to display it within the Service to other users who can access that exercise. You are responsible for anything you post, and we may remove content that breaks these terms.
4.3 The Service itself
The software, design, scoring systems and original materials belong to EngoNow. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from them.
5. The AI assistant
- It can be wrong. AI-generated explanations may contain errors. Do not rely on it as your only source, particularly for exam preparation.
- Your questions are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate answers. Do not enter personal, private or sensitive information.
- Usage is limited per day depending on your account type, to keep the Service available for everyone.
6. Microphone and pronunciation practice
The pronunciation feature uses your microphone, and only while you actively start a recording. Your audio is not sent to us and is not stored on our servers. However, your browser’s speech recognition may send audio to its own provider — in Google Chrome, that means Google. See section 2.5 of our Privacy Policy. If you are not comfortable with this, do not use the pronunciation feature; everything else works without it.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the Service running, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend it for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. We are a small team — please allow reasonable time for support requests.
We do not guarantee that your data will never be lost. We take encrypted daily backups, but you should not treat the Service as the only record of your learning.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your use harms other users or the Service, or if we are required to by law. Where practical we will tell you why and give you an opportunity to respond.
You may delete your account at any time in Settings. Data is permanently erased after a 30-day grace period, during which you may contact us to cancel. If your account is closed, you lose access to your progress, streaks and saved vocabulary.
9. Changes
We may change or discontinue features, and we may update these terms. If a change is significant we will notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
10. Liability
The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, and disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Vietnamese courts.
